Assess the degree of ultra-processing of your products
A tool developed with nutrition experts to help professionals (and anyone concerned about food quality) evaluate and reformulate their products and recipes.

Why to measure ultra-processing?
Nearly 35% of the calories consumed in France come from ultra-processed foods. However, their consumption is linked to an increased risk of obesity, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease.

Ultra-processed foods are sometimes not easily identifiable today because they may benefit from “healthy” marketing or even a positive Nutriscore A or B rating. For example, many cereal bars for athletes, vegetable “steaks,” and gluten-free cookies are ultra-processed products.
How does ewö work?
The ewö calculator is free. It allows you to calculate the level of ultra-processing in your recipes and products yourself.

1. Enter your recip
Add the simple or compound ingredients, the processes used (fermentation, extrusion), and the amounts of sugar.

2. Find out your score
The algorithm automatically calculates a score from 1 (very good) to 4 (very poor) based on ultra-processed food criteria.

3. Improve your recipes
Identify areas for improvement (processes, reformulation, substitution) and instantly update the results.

The calculation rules are explained in the methodology available here.
An independent assessment tool, designed with leading scientists
The method used in this simulator is based on a rigorous scientific approach, independent of any industrial interests. It was co-developed with a committee of recognized experts committed to healthier and more transparent food.
